Dr. T-na (pronounced “Tina”) Tran is the sole practitioner at The Family Vet. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Class of 1997. Before that, Dr. Tran studied animal science and agricultural development at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. After graduating from Wisconsin, Dr. Tran returned to the community (as a student Dr. Tran worked at The Family Vet while it was still Magnolia Animal Hospital), and purchased the practice in 2003. Her vision is to provide a quality practice for the community that uniquely blends family friendliness, honesty, and excellent patient care. Dr. Tran’s family as of now is her 17 year old cat Sully. During rare off-times (running a full time practice virtually on her own takes up all of her time), Dr. Tran enjoys reading, (acupuncture and nutrition are favorite subjects), collecting planners, and perfecting the perfect cup of hand-brewed coffee.
Elias started his employment at The Family Vet in 1995, while it was still Magnolia Animal Hospital. Originally hired mainly for a summer, the experience of working at The Family Vet quickly turned into a career. “It really is more something that I enjoy doing, and happen to be paid for,” he says. Elias attends California State University Long Beach, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, and a Master’s Degree in Philosophy. Elias enjoys his off time reading as much as possible (philosophy of science, history, and science), and birdwatching.
Jon has been at The Family Vet since 2011. He graduated from Cabrillo High School and is attending Long Beach City College in pursuit of a teaching degree. Jon enjoys going to the movies, the beach, and amusement parks. He also enjoys taking his dog Kobe for runs at the park.
